Spit & Polish - a promenade site specific performance
Starting in May 2008 I worked alongside Trestle Arts Base and freelance arts professionals, producer/writer Anna Reynolds, and local community participants on a site-specific, promenade performance inspired by the stories and history of St Albans Town Hall.
We created an array of interesting works for the performance including ghostly pig lanterns, a model and blueprints from the children of How Wood and Mandeville Schools in St Albans, ghostly dresses, written footprints and poppies.
Absolutely loved it- so many surprises- so many giggles- heartwarming- felt the history within the walls. Pigs with green eyes, nostalgia, history- we will dance home!
Audience Members attending Spit & Polish
Ghostly pig lanterns in the Town Hall niches tell the sad tale of Sarah Gregory, transported to Western Australia for stealing four pigs in the 19thC.
